After buying the house, the customer established that the current retrofit was unsatisfactory. Screws were used on the plywood instead of nails, which are required by code. After consultation between the engineer, customer and myself, it was suggested to use the URFP/FREP plates in addition to re-nailing, otherwise, all of the plywood would have to be taken of and replaced.
This created a significant saving in time and materials, but also reinforced the structures ability to withstand an earthquake.
The work was completed and passed inspection.
